Now my curiosity is peaked. Gary, if you will provide your site coordinates and altitude - the more accurate the better - I would like to try to identify the object that you saw. I assume that by Andromeda, you mean the galaxy. What was the diameter of your field of view? At mid-northern latitudes, Andromeda would have been about 80 deg elevation, so the object must have been in a fairly low orbit to have reached 10 deg elevation in about 60 s - seems almost too fast, but lets see what I can determine once I have your site data.
