The following home astronomy activities in New York are operated
by various organizations. A couple extra activities of special
importance to City astronomers may be included.
For a handy reminder of these events, check the calendar in the

ATTENTION

There may be additional viewing sessions for the lunar eclipse on
Saturday 8 November and the Leonid meteors on Wednesday 19 November.
Please contact the starviewing or meeting sponsors in this list for
last-minute eclipse and meteor watches.
CHECK THE DATE!

A few lunar eclipse sessions are announced for Sunday 9 November,
NOT Saturday the 8th. THIS IS THE WRONG DATE!! The confusion may come
from the UT date, 9 November, which converts to November 8 in EST.
Either the event is in fact on the 8th and the announcement merely
has a clerical error OR the session is in fact on the 9th. The latter
situation will ignite the wrath of the visitors and rain hideous
discredit on the sponsor!
PLEASE! Review your lunar eclipse announcements and make SURE they
have the CORRECT date of November 8th.
I put ALL lunar eclipse events under November 8th to avoid
ridiculous embarrassment to the sponsors. You BETTER check with the
ones you're interested in BEFORE setting off for the viewing site.
