Re: The Harmonic Concordance debunked

Hi Ante,

Where did You find that info? Is there some recent magnitude estimates for
this comet? That would explain why I can't see it in my 4.5" dob.

http://cfa-www.harvard.edu/iau/Ephemerides/Comets/2001HT50.html still gives
mag 10.9 for November 9th.

I know it may come as a shock to most people, but the IAU ephemerides don't generally use accurate, up to date magnitude parameters for the fainter, less interesting comets. That's why I take the time to do my own updates using the recent observations (for users of my SkyTools software). I also make this information available to everyone on my Comet Chasing page <http://www.skyhound.com/sh/comets.html>.

There are three primary sources for comet magnitude observations:

ICQ: <http://cfa-www.harvard.edu/icq/CometMags.html>
Charles Morris: <http://encke.jpl.nasa.gov/RecentObs.html>
Comet Observation Group: <http://groups.yahoo.com/group/CometObs/>

Clear Skies,
Greg
