In anticipation of Mars' closest approach to Earth in 60,000 years, the general public should be made aware of the possible consequences of war between the planets in case Mars' residents have decided to conquer Earth at this time. In order to fulfill its civic duty to our Baton Rouge citizens, the Highland Road Park Observatory will be open all night so Earthlings can keep an eye on the planet as it approaches. There will be much battle planning as we review vintage films of Mars such as War of the Worlds and Mars Attacks. We will gather around the campfire and practice our survival skills by roasting marshmallows all night. And perhaps most important, members of the LSU Physics Department, Baton Rouge Astronomical Society and BREC will be here to help guide you in your all night observations of Mars using the Observatory telescope. There is no charge for this necessary battle skill training. SO MAKE PLANS TO ATTEND THE ALL-NIGHT MARS VIEWING NOW.IF YOU WAIT, IT MAY BE TOO LATE.
