The "problem" you're talking about is not strange, nor is it a problem, but rather part of the set up process. In order for the GOTO function to work, you must first polar align the telescope prior to every use, then tell the computer where on Earth you are by selecting guide stars, and also provide time and location coordinates. I suggest that you read and understand the owners manual very carefully before attempting to use the mount. One final thought: when the seller tells you that he has not used the GOTO function much, this could be cause for concern. It could be the seller's way of glossing over a non functioning GOTO system.
