Nuts. I've certainly seen plenty of instances of tube currents in refractors,
and for sudden temperature changes you can have errors in figure lasting quite a
few minutes.

Refractors just cool faster than most other designs because their thermal mass
is at the front of the tube, and because their small diameter means they have a
large surface area to volume ratio.
