Wasn't there a flurry of phony xian artifact manufacturing done in the
period when Constantine made christianity the state religion? His mother
went to the holy land collecting stuff - old bones and wood from "the
cross", right?
    How could anyone hope to determine whether an artifact might be a good
plausible fake or a real item connected to a supernatural event?
