This is a law on name changing - and it does make a reference to "gammal sedvänja" = "old custom" and "till namn" = "additional name" - but rather than translate the whole... It is a LAW about name changing an the LEGALITY of the name change. The old custom of adding a "farm name" (in SOME places at SOME time by SOME people) is LEGAL enough to submit to to the tax department as a person's name. Now, this means that it need NOT have any connection to any farm at all in fact. That it once had, among the ancestors, that the name had somehow "stuck" to a person for that reason, is enough. It also says if that portion of the name is no longer desired, a notification of deleting the use of that name is to be made to the Church District the person is in (The church holds records like that in Sweden). What all this means is that the name is the PERSON's name - and does not identify a farm (that can have a different name). Of course Jerry might be able to show a Law where a name for a farm is sacrosanct and cannot be altered, but I suspect it is most unlikely. -- SIR - Philosopher unauthorised ----------------------------------------------------------------- The one who is educated from the wrong books is not educated, he is misled. -----------------------------------------------------------------
