The existence of toponyms such as GoSHeN, MiTZRaim (the Hebrew name
for Egypt), Sinai, the desert of ZiN, and CaNa3aN indicates the
existence of a body-part anthropomorphic map for this area. [Most of
these names are Western Semitic; but, I cannot *guarantee* these names
were in use at the time of the Exodus.]
A body-part map is generated by configuring the human-like virtual
body of a god or goddess over the area to be mapped. The name of each
body part becomes the name of the area or feature under that part.
Before the advent of easily portable written media, this is how maps
were made. The result is a scale 1:1 map-without-paper. The name of a
place indicates its approximate location.
At one time, these maps were a very pervasive phenomena. There is a
map of Hermes in Asia minor, a map of (eventually) Aphrodite in north
Africa, and a map of Napi (the creator of the Blackfoot indians) in
Alberta, Canada. The map of Napi has been described by Stan Knowlton
and Dan Moonhawk Alford. [For an overview of this mapping technique in
North America, do a Google web search on "Turtle Island" Knowlton.] I
suspect there is a map of Loki in Scandanavia because Hermes, Napi,
and Loki are all "trickster" gods. Aphrodite did a few "tricks"
herself. :-)
Hermes stretches from his cranium in the Ukraine to his right (Hebrew
Y'MiN) foot in Yemen. His navel (Skt nabhila) is reversed in Lebanon.
His name is still inscribed between Oman and Iran (Persia) at the
Strait of Hormuz. Hermes used to live atop Mt. Hermon until he moved
to Mt. Olympus (compare Greek omphalos = navel).
His girlfriend Aphrodite's cranium is reversed at Mo[n]RoC. She is
looking over her right shoulder. The area called Fez (now a city) was
a cap on her head. The Atlas mountains are the first vertebrae that
support her head. Her long hair (Hebrew Sa3aR) is the Sahara desert.
Her face (Hebrew PaNim) was destroyed (no pun intended) during the 3rd
PuNic war. But her chin (Hebrew SaNTir) is reversed to TuNiS and is
still there jutting out into the Mediterranean.
Her spine (Hebrew SHiDRa), heart (LeB), and breast (SHaD) are now
called the Gulf of SiDRa, Lybia, and Chad, respectively. Her narrow
(Hebrew TZaR) waist is miTZRaim/Misr.
GoSHeN (with an ancient T-sound for the shin) was her kidney (a
bean-shaped organ, from Hebrew KiTNios = beans). Now you know why
Ashkenazi Jews do not eat beans on Passover. We are
psycho-linguistically distancing ourselves from the bean/kidney =
GoSHeN/KTN where we were slaves. Cotton (Arabic QuTN) was grown in and
exported from Goshen. Compare Latin Gossipium, English gossamer.
Her navel was at NuBia, her left side (Hebrew TZaD) is now SuDan, and
her left (S'MoL) leg is at Somalia. Eritrea is her (Greek) urethra.
The Red Sea (Latin
Mare Rubrum) is red due to menstruation. The southern entrance to the
Red Sea is Bab-el-Mandeb = gate-to- yaM NiDah = sea of menstruous
woman. The sea of Aqaba is associated with Ka:Vah = digestion,
defecation. Between these two seas is SiNai. It is spelled SiNi but
pronounced as if a missing aleph were still present. Aleph used to
have a GHT/CHS sound. So SiNa[CHs] is probably cognate with the
English noun "snatch", the reversal of Hebrew K'NiSa = entrance. Sinai
contains the desert of zayin-yod-nun ZiN. Hebrew ZaYiN means weapon
and is a euphemism for the male organ.
Alibi: I did not construct these maps. I only deconstructed them. But
it should be obvious that the people who anciently lived in that area
knew its geography as well as they knew the shape of their own bodies.
I'll end this email with a list of body-part map attributes.
Attributes of body-part maps
============================
Here are some attributes of the "Hermes" map in Asia
minor and "Aphrodite" map in north Africa that may be
of general application.
1. The map tends to cover an area of political or
economic influence.
2. Areas of male maps (gods) are later called Fatherlands.
Areas of female maps (goddesses) become Motherlands.
3. Both Hermes and Napi are "trickster" gods. I suspect there
is a Scandinavian body-part map associated with the trickster
god Loki.
4. The creators of the map are typically found near the map's
center, its navel. It seems that Hermes moved from Mt. Hermon
(near Lebanon, a reversal of Sanskrit nabhila = navel) to
Mt. Olympus (compare Greek omphalos = navel).
5. The mythology of the map's creators and of other nearby
language communities may help delineate the map.
6. There are at least two reasons for reversing or
euphemistically changing the name of a body part:
a. The name already occurs on another known map.
b. The part is one whose name is taboo, that is
not mentioned in public.
7. Historical name changes for an area are sometimes
loan-translations without a change in "meaning".
8. Internal body parts tend to be subdivisions of
external body parts.
9. Bodies (no pun intended) of water also get body-part names.
10.There is a familial connection between Napi and neighboring maps.
There is a sexual connection between the Hermes and Aphrodite maps.
