I have had them for a couple years now, in 3 tanks, with a variety of fish.
Loaches will harass, and sometimes eat them. They do a tremendous job of
tank cleaning. I didn't know just how good until I removed the half-dozen or
so from my 45 planted. Within 2 weeks, the tank was disgusting,
comparatively. Great additions.
