Re: Brine Shrimp

Thanks for everyone's advice on brine shrimp. I tried some (to be prepared for other fish) and fed them to my small guppies. They loved them. I also had my question, which I didn't ask, answered. It was, "Why can't we just feed brine shrimp eggs to fry?"

I used only a fraction of the recommended amount, and I had way too many brine to use up. I'm thinking about adding some small food particles (a pinch of flour, maybe) to see if they can stay alive longer, so they can at least be used up.

I'm new to breeding fish other than guppies and mollies. I recently bought a vial of brine shrimp cysts (100% artemia). I was wondering what the best way of hatching them might be. I have two pop bottles, one with the top cut off and one with the bottom cut off. The top of the one without the bottom is places inside of the one without a top, making what looks like at first a long tube. I have an aerator hooked up and goes thru the lid, which is attached. I have to admit that I don't have salt right now to hatch them, so I have to wait to go shopping tomorrow after work. Will this setup work well?

Any comments, suggestions, or scrutiny is appreciated.
