Significant number of Iraqis trust the coalition, new poll shows. 
 -- Iraqi support for US troops may be growing

3,244 Iraqis were  interviewed by Oxford Research International, 
in conjunction with Oxford University's sociology department in the
poll

The new poll found nearly  8 % of Iraqis trust the coalition. 

"Clearly this is a significant number," a high ranking US official
commented on conditions of anonymity. "This is not just a 
statistical fluke. These people  really do trust us."

Another poll back in October found that 11 % of Iraqis
had " much" or "some" confidence in the coalition.

"Considering the uncertainty, about 3%, in these poll figures ," 
the US offical said, "these figures are consistent with a growing
support among ordinary Iraqis for our troops."
