Dec 1 2003: Significant number of Iraqis trust the coalition, new poll shows. -- Iraqi support for US troops may be growing --------------------------------- 3,244 Iraqis were interviewed by Oxford Research International, in conjunction with Oxford University's sociology department in the poll The new poll found nearly 8 % of Iraqis trust the coalition. "Clearly this is a significant number," a high ranking US official commented on conditions of anonymity. "This is not just a statistical fluke. These people really do trust us." Another poll back in October found that 11 % of Iraqis had " much" or "some" confidence in the coalition. "Considering the uncertainty, about 3%, in these poll figures ," the US offical said, "these figures are consistent with a growing support among ordinary Iraqis for our troops."
