Agroterrorism in America

Agriculture is the perfect target or weapon used
by terrorist, and easy to use. And we know that 
Osama Bin Laden is interested in using it. He has 
used a sunflower farm in Africa to train his terrorists,

A scenario:

Day one is the first infection by the Al-Qaida 
FMD (Foot and Mouth disease) attack on America. 
By day five we are already  in  23  states. This 
is also the day the terrorist attack is detected, 
since FMD has an incubation time no less than 5 days.

By day eight FMD is in 29 states, and a national 
stop  movement will be declared. This will ultimately 
lead  to the destruction of over 23 million animals. 
Since FMD is also infectious to dairy and meat products, 
there will be put severe restrictions on movement 
of food products. At this point 700,000 people will 
be tied up in fighting back the FMD disease. All
costing USA untold billions of dollars.  

And remember, this is only FMD.

Al Qaida could and probably would use a zoonotic  
disease which can spread to humans. Or they would
contaminate food with biological agents at the 
food processing level -- in each case causing not 
only the loss of billions in values, but also cause 
mass disease and many Americans dead.
