Eh? It's a major fertiliser in many areas of the world - "night soil". High in nitrogen it's similar to pigshit, which will grow plants like nobodies business. [sorry] All animal excreta contains significant amounts of pathogens (most particularly bird excreta) but soils have been biodegrading them for hundreds of millions of years. Composing is a good thing if you want a nice crumbly more-or-less odour free product, but note that you will lose quite a lot of nitrogen in the process. I have used large quantities (20-30 million gallons) of treated sewage sludge over the years, mostly on grassland, where it is highly effective.
