My experience is that in the last year one araucana has got over a 4 ft high electric fence once. The Barnevelders and Sussex haven't escaped ever. The Speckeldys and RIR/Sussex crosses I used to have never got over the garden fences (6ft) or bushes (4ft) - but they did get under some small gaps into the neighbours garden. They also used to get under some rather flimsy netting type of barrier so beware. I've never had to wing clip my hens but would do so if it became necessary. Jay
