Maybe the breeder was Austrailian and moved to US.  Who knows...

We're such a melting pot of nationalities is hard to say.

I did a yahoo search on Dachs and Egypt and got a lot of hits,  maybe the
German folks re-invented the wheel.  There is more burried in history than
we will ever know.
