Pawpaw seeds

I ate a pawpaw for the first time this weekend, and I'd like to grow a 
tree from seed (folks say it shouldn't be hard).  Should I plant it right 
away in a pot and transplant in the spring or should I hold onto the seeds 
until spring?  I don't know if the seeds need to be planted right away 
like lychee or not.  btw, I am in Central New York.
