this newsgroup sci.agriculture.poultry has alot of really educated 
people that hang there, but it sounds like the hen is broody, molting. 
but puffing feathers and rolling in the dirt is a natural thing they do, 
its called dusting and they do it for lice control even if they have 
none, my rhodees do it all the time as my other girls do so too. check 
out the newsgroup and ask there for other oipinions
