Greetings all, upon observing the landing area of 1 of my 2 hives this week, I first heard the roar of a large bee, then saw it land and enter my hive. It was distinctly different from my golden banded Italian workers - first of all, it was about 3 times the size, secondly, it had bands across its abdomen, but THEY WERE ALL BLACK. Physically speaking it looked like an Italian worker but was much larger and NOT golden. Its buzz was MUCH louder than a regular sized worker. Like a Lear Jet vs. a Cessna. It was not a drone as I'm familiar with his appearance. My location is the upstate of South Carolina. Thanks, Richey
