Horsepower is horsepower. Whether you get a thousand horsepower from a shaft turbine or a piston engine is immaterial. If you have horsepower, you can gear to get whatever pump rpm you want. In fact, largest single engine I know of (horsepowerwise) is a Diesel, with over 100,000 horsepower. Not aware of any turboshaft that big.
