What should the flap positions be while taking off?

Hi there,

I want to make sure I have the correct understanding the functions of the
flops on the wing and the elevators on the stabilizer.
The flops on the wing is used to change the plane's angle around the
longitudinal axis while the elevator controls the pitch angle.

I think for the taking-off, the positions should be like:
                                                  /
wing: _______\ stabilizer: ___________/
              \

The flap on the wing goes down to generate more lift on the wing.
And the elevator goes up to make the plane nose up so that the
angle of attack and then the lift is increased.

The thing here is the flaps on the wing do not function to make the plane
rotate around the center line for the two flap on the two wings go to the
same direction. The flap goes down only to prevent the boundary layer
separation and consequently reduces the drag and adds the lift.
But I think this flap is not necessary for taking-off if the wing itself
can generate enough lift to overcome the gravity.

Am I right?
Thank you very much.
