Re: The video standard burden: buying an NTSC camera for europe

How big is the difference in quality between the recorded image with
an NTSC unit or with a PAL one (i'm talking about a VX2000) when the
number of effective pixels of the CCDs is the same and just below the
NTSC resolution?

( NTSC "screen resolution" 720x480 = 345K
  PAL "screen resolution" 720x576 = 414K
  number of effective pixels = 340K )

I mean both images are recorded with sensores of the same resolution
which is just below the image resolution for an NTSC standard.
Is the image recorded in PAL resolution really any better because of
the higher recorded resolution or is it only "streched"?

An' this huge thing:
As i remember on a 60min tape, for PAL recording it is designated as
60min, but 76min for NTSC recording.
When you multiply 720x480x30(frame rate) and 720x576x25 you get,
belive it or not, exactly the same number.
So, how can this be?

Is an NTSC recording (even with this in mind) 1/6 times worse than a
PAL recording?!

We're all seaching for a better video quality.
So, should i settle for a hundred lines lower resolution?
Or, do those hundred lines even matter when it's all recorded with the
same chips with even a lower resolutions that both images?
