You may be sitting too close to that 47 inch television receiver.

I have no complaint about DirecTV picture quality in the programs I record 
using two DirecTV DVRs.  If you think a new satellite launch will make 
things better, that situation could be only temporary.  DirecTV is now 
using satellite capacity at the 101 orbit position to serve local channels.  
When the new spot beam satellite is put in service, some local channel
markets will move to the new satellite and new local markets will be added
to the national beam.

DirecTV picture quality has improved in the four years I have been watching,
and is much better today than it was when local channels were first offered
in late 1999.
