Re: First time subscriber... not happy with DirecTV picture quality.

As someone mentioned in an earlier post, they're apparently launching a new
satellite soon.  I can't wait.  The picture quality has been steadily
degrading for the last few months.  At first I thought it was me, as I have
recently purchased a hdtv tuner for my 47" television, and thought that dtv
was just looking bad in comparison.  After posting a few questions in these
newsgroups though, it became clear that it was directv's problem. The big
question for you is what are your alternatives?  Dish network supposedly has
a worse picture than directv.  Digital cable is hit or miss.  My father in
law has bright house, and his picture is awesome on a tv larger than mine.
A friend has brighthouse in another city, and his picture is no better than
my dtv.

I'm seeing more and more dissatisfaction on these forums about quality.
Lets just hope dtv is hearing the same thing, and will do something about
it.
