I've been searching for a DV camcorder also and have learned an amazing amount of info in a short time. Bottom line stick with either Sony or Canon. Looks like the Sony's TRV22, TRV33 or TRV38 models or Canon's ZR70MC model are best for your price range. They are all around 400-600 depending on where you go. Buydig.com has some awesome deals from what I've read on the postings to this newsgroup. Another good site to buy from is bhphotovideo.com. I'm currently deciding between the TRV38 model (at around $600) or going for the $1000+ models of eiter the TRV80 or the Canon Optura Xi. Trying to decide if it is worth the extra cash or not.
