I recommend either 'Imation' or 'Maxell' DVD-Ram and TDK or Maxell DVD-R as they seem to be the most consistent. (I've tried many af them) With either unit, you will likely have to format the DVD-Ram disc first. (For the Matshita - It is best to format using version 2.0 which is an option in the DVD-Ram disc set up software). DVD-R can be recorded once and cannot be edited- Panasonic's unit allows for erasing these programs but you cannot recover disc space. DVD-Ram on the other hand is totally erasable and reusable. It can act as an extra hard drive & supports drag & drop features. The bad thing I've learned about DVD Recorders/ Burners is that there are too many inferior discs on the market. Memorex Ram & DVD-r were excellent about 2 years ago & now few are compatible with my units. Same thing with COMP-USA's brand. Wal Mart sells Maxell DVD-Ram (Non cartridge type) 3 for $12.97 (includes DVD cases) and I haven't had a bad disc yet. Target sells TDK DVD-R (which are also flawless) at a decent price (this week on sale 20 discs for $29.95 - Damn, I just bout the same pack last week for $44.95.) Hope this is some help. h
