Dvd ram software

I have purchased a Panasonic dmr100 which is brilliant and have now got a
bare drive Panasonic recorder for my pc, does anyone know if I need any
software for the pc to utilise the dvd ram feature on the pc as I cannot
seem to utilise is as I can on the dmr100.
