Software for a DVD+-RW Drive

Hi,

I am thinking of buying a DVD writer and am not sure whether to go for OEM
or retail.

Am I correct in assuming that if I go for an OEM version it comes with no
software at all? If I shell out for a retail version, will the included
software be up to the job or just demo/limited versions? All I want to do is
make DVD videos from my camcorder and data backups.

On a related point, I Have Nero 5.5 which I use for burning CDs. I have seen
people talk about using Nero 5.5 for DVD burning, but there is no reference
to DVD in my version. Is nero for DVDs a different product altogether?
