There is a standard DVD format, but there are a bunch of video formats, and
since you got the disc from anther country, that's the most likely problem.
In North American and Japan, our equipment is made specifically to play NTSC
video...and if the DVD has PAL or SECAM video, you won't be able to play it
with your current equipment. Does the DVD packaging mention the video
format? Most do. What country was the disc purchased in?
