DVD format problem?

I got a DVD-R from another country. On my Pioneer DV-444 DVD player,
the picture comes in black and white and is not stable. It
continuously "rolls" on the screen, going up and down. The
audio is okay. The DVD-R is Samsung Digitall  ver 2.0. It
also says 4.7GB/120min and R4.7 on it. I thought there was
a standard DVD fromat, but could there be a problem with
the format? I tried to find some settings on the DVD player,
but could not find anything that makes the picture stable. Thanks.
