In article <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, [EMAIL PROTECTED] says... > The prices are still ridiculous! Why are they still so high? I can get 100 > CD-R's for $10. Don't they make DVD media from the same materials?? > > Its a scam! DVD media is not made from the same materials. It's also a matter of "supply and demand". There are 1000 times more CD burners in computers than DVD burners. Therefore production of CDR's and CDRW's is much higher than DVD-+R/W media. As burner prices drop, you'll see media prices drop, although I doubt you'll see DVD media drop to the same prices as CDR media. I expect in two to three years we'll be able to get good quality high speed DVD media around 50 cents a disc. Still, even at a buck each, given the storage capacity, it's a MUCH better deal than CDRs.
