Help Please or my wife will kill me!

I've got a Panasonic DMR-E50 DVD Recorder. I have just inserted a DVD-RAM
disc that I had used in my computers DVD-RAM writer. The Panasonic locked up
so I powered it off. When I powered the Panasonic up the display now says
"recover" and I cannot eject the disc! What can I do? I am in deep poo-poo
as this is my Christmas present and I shouldn't have been using it anyway.
