A new higher res DVD?

Hi...

Wow, it's been awhile since I've posted here..I think the last time was the
day we finally killed DIVX...

Anyway, I was in Ultimate Electronics awhile back wathing a $15k perhaps 60"
or so Plasma TV with what I thought was a HD  HDTV source.  Turns out it's
about a $900+ Denon DVD player!  I had no idea DVD had improved so much!
So the probably uninformed sales guy is trying to tell me there is a new DVD
with less compression plus this particular player has better video
especially motion etc.  So what's up, is there a better lower compession DVD
these days?  If so, I have not seen it in stores or at least didn't know I
was seeing it.   If it exist what titles are available on it?   Or, have
players so improved that they can make any DVD look that good?   If that's
the case I gotta git me one o dose!
