Has Sony improved the quality of their DVD players?

My Sony DVD player,a DVP-S360D, just died on me after 38 hours of use over
three years.  I usually like Sony equipment, and have never had luck this bad
before.  Now, I'm wondering if I should get another Sony.  I assume that this
player was an early one, so the technology should be better now. It suffered
from known problems, like the C:13:00 error, so I also assume Sony has fixed
these problems.  Has anyone had bad luck with a recent Sony player?
