formats

Does anyone know of, or have experience with the following:

I am looking to buy some DVD's from the UK, they are in PAL format,
region 0
according to the retailer. I own a Sony DVD DVP-NS315 unit. I fairly
sure
the DVD's will not play in my player, right? 

Is there a way to convert the DVD's or is there some service that
exists that will convert the DVD's to NTSC format? Or maybe a DVD
player for sale here in the US that will play both PAL and NTSC? Or
copying the DVD in a burner?
I'm fishing, because I really do not know.

Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.
