  Many of these combo players will not allow recording from DVD to VHS, 
period. That is to make the movie companies happy. Even if it allows it, 
DVD has several layers of copy protection that screws up VHS recordings. 
Not every DVD has it, but I would assume 99% do. Certainly, any major 
studio release will.
