Sony Recorder, RDR-GX7

Hi,
Anyone has this strange problem? I got my rdr-gx7, unpacked it, put
the power on it, the red light burns from standby, but i cannot get
the unit switched on! Not directly on the unit and not with the
remote.
It almost looks like the unit is blocked like sometimes is used in
stores so customers cannot mess with it.
Help!
