It's a typical ir remote. You don't have to turn the E80 on to get it to timer-record a program. It is always "on" in standby mode. You just program it to record the program you want. If you mean, will the E80 turn on the Direct TV receiver, no, it won't. If that has to be turned on to record from it, then you'd have to leave it on or program it to turn itself on, if that's possible. mack austin "Darth Leppard" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote in message news:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > i am planning on purchasing a panasonic dmr-e80h and had a couple of > questions. i have a sony sat-a65a directv receiver. it has a rf > remote. does the e80 use a rf or ir remote? will i be able to use > the remote record feature of my dtv receiver to automatically turn the > e80 on and record a tv show as it does with my vcr? are there any > other recorders on the market from other manufacturers that include a > hd and are recommended? any other opinions are appreciated! > > thanks > >
