Pioneer DV-444 Upgrade

Hi all,

I have a Pioneer DV-444.  I want to make it multi-region / region-free but
am having trouble finding many people in the UK to do it.  I have only found
a couple of places to do it.  However I have been told that there is
possibly an Engineers disk with a firmware update that would do the same
trick.  Does anyone have ant info on this disk, or possibly info on where I
can buy a DIY kit to do the same?
