something.2  - since they're new I assumed it was the latest.  The NEC web 
site offers nothing, so I can't upgrade.  I found a diagnostic on the NERO 
disc bundled w/ it and that software said it was reading and transferring 
at the right level, from one DVD (same as played once) but it refused 
another DVD (non-region from Europe disc) . 
I believe it will burn them OK. I'm gonna try that soon as my many files 
are loaded and ready. 

Any more advice will be appreciated.  RH
