According to The Digital Bits, George Lucas called a big meeting in downtown San Francisco last week, and sources indicate that he outlined his plans for the original Star Wars Trilogy to come to DVD in September of 2004. If this is true, it undercuts original esitmates by several months to over a year. Originally, the trilogy was reported to be slated for a late 2005 or early 2006 release, which would put it out after Episode IIIs release to theaters, and right before Ep. IIIs predicted DVD release of November 2005. Reportedly, Lucas and Speilberg had a fight with the studio over the release of the Indiana Jones trilogy, as they wanted it released as 3 seperate discs *before* it's release as a boxset. If this is true, expect the original Star Wars films to be released individually first. I also wuldn't be surprised to see at least 3 different boxsets: Episodes 4-6 Epsidoes 1-3 Large set, all 6 episodes No pricing information has yet leaked, but with the Indiana Jones boxset selling for $48-50, a SW boxet with all 6 movies will probably be upwards of $100.
