I've seen many DVDs where the director's commentary and other extras was actually better than the movie. For example I didn't like the movie Pecker very much, but the commentary track by director John Waters was hilarious. On the DVD of This is Spinal Tap, there are enough cut scenes to make a second hilarious movie. Another big difference is that DVD movies are generally shown in widescreen or letterbox format. This lets you see the film as it was originally envisioned by the director. It makes a big difference when you finally get to see the entire film instead of just the middle 2/3 of the screen. Join Netflix, for $19.95 a month you get all the DVD's you can watch, three at a time. Huge inventory, too. You'll be cancelling those expensive cable services.
