RF cable i mono?

pardon my confusion.

we have a "stereo" television, with two separate small speakers. It's
a Sanyo.

Our cable from the cable company is an RF coax. Someone just told me
that RF coax is always mono, therefore, it doesnt matter if the RF
cable goes to a mono VCR tuner first, or the stereo TV itself first,
because its a mono signal. To be honest, i cant tell a differnece in
audio, with either hook up.

is this correct? That i cannot get stereo audio thru the cable
company's RF coax line?

if this is true, then how do i get cable channels in stereo?
