We use the term :  'Vacation' over here in the USA, not 'holiday' .

By the way, i used to live in sunny Cornwall in St. Austell back in
1973. Nice place to vacation in the summer, but , bloody aweful in the
winter with the cold rainy climate and ghost town atmosphere. They didnt
like americans too much, either. Jealous , i  suspect.
