The Caribbean Village is not located in a forest but right on the Playacar Golf Course. It's the cheapest AI in Playacar without the beach but with OK rooms (nothing special though) divided over several smaller buildings. With spring break its full of young people. When I worked in Playacar cost for a cab from Playacar to PdC was $5 but it may have gone up a bit. The entire Riveira Maya region has a huge reef just off the beach and visibility is good. Prices for tours fluctuate a lot, so be sure to compare prices. For mroe information on Playacar / Playa del Carmen have a look at http://playadelcarmen.start4all.com where a large listing of (all-inclusive) hotels can be found.
