Del Mar Beverly Hills

The other day I got a bag from the Del Mar Beverly Hills company.  I
really like it, but my only question is, what (on the "shoulder tote"
bag) is the velcros strap for?  It seems to serve no purpose... I know
it sounds stupid, but I really want to know!!!  Thanks
