Travel books (amazon.com vs. .co.uk)

Hello.

I'm seriously thinking of offering myself, this Christmas, some books.
I'd like to have your personal opinion about the following books...

"Vagabonding" by Rolf Potts
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0812992180/qid=1069125602/sr=2-1/ref=sr_2_3_1/202-7850040-8451841

-------------------------------------------------

A Rough Guide Special: "First Time Around the World": A Trip Planner
for the Ultimate Journey (Rough Guides)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/1843530570/qid%3D1069125747/202-7850040-8451841

Has anyone ever bought these books? Are they worth?

I'm in Portugal - Europe and was thinking of shopping in Amazon.
There is almost no difference between the prices in amazon.com and
amazon.co.uk.
I also compared the prices using douwantit.com.

Can anyone please tell me if I have to pay the taxes detailed in
douwantit if buying in amazon.com when getting the package from the
post office?

As far as I understood the situation would be:

If buying in amazon.co.uk the final price would be the one listed in
the site.
If buying in amazon.com I'd have to pay additional taxes when
receiving the package at home.

Is this information correct?

Thanks.
