NCL is in the preliminary stages at this time in finding sources for their licensed officers and unlicensed crew (bar, housekeeping, kitchen workers, etc.). (I work for one of the unions.) They have put out feelers to the various Merchant Marine unions (MMP, MEBA, SIU, AMO) to see the qualifications of the various persons in the unions and to see if they can provide enough officers and crew to staff the ship. NCL has not decided on what organization will staff the ships or if they will even go with a union crew. There is also another Project America ship that was purchased from the defunct American Hawaii Lines. It was, and is, in less completed state than the ship that will be placed into service in June. It will hopefully be completed by NCL also and placed into service. They also bought the 1960s era SS United States. Their plans for this ship are still in planning stages and no public announcements have been made as to placing her into service after a total rebuild.>
