Re: Buying FF miles

You can charge taxes for 2.5% so if you have a card that gives miles
you are buying them for 2.5 cents each. A business class rt upgrade
needs 40,000 miles. The cost is just $1,000 usually a bargain.

But I see people selling miles. Can they be bought and added to my
account? Most seem to be selling something useless and "giving" an
award ticket -- you know $400 for a breath of air and you get a free
ticket. saw deals like this on eBay.

It violates the terms of the FF program, and airlines aren't fooled by the "buy a stamped envelope, get a free ticket" deals. No sane person pays $500 for an envelope.
You, as the purchaser can be denied boarding, if they find out.
I know an AA Exec Platinum guy who this happened to. He sold award tickets and upgrades on E-BAY.. Those holding tickets were unpleasantly surprised when they tried to board. The seller lost all of his remaining miles and his anywhere in the world upgrades... and his EP status...
Apparently the airline added extra staff to start hunting these people down..

Good luck... With the risk/benefits analysis done, I wouldn't do it.
