Todd If this is correctly copied, and I have no reason to believe it isn't >USAV 17.5.1 continues: >"The server may move freely within the service zone. At the moment of >the service hit or takeoff for a jump service, the server must be >completely in the service zone and not touching the court (end line >included) or the playing surface outside the zone. After the service, >the player may step or land outside the zone including the court." > Unless I am reading it incorrectly, it states that you may move freely in the service zone. Am I incorrect in the interp that the service zone is behind the endline and between the sidelines? If so, to leave the service zone would seem to be improper. I have never heard nor seen anyone interpret it that way but it seems to state it pretty clearly. Then again, it also pretty clearly states that you must be in the service zone at the time of contact/jump inferring that you may *not* have been in the service zone prior.
